Since I got the Starter Set from Amazon, the extra $7.50 is spent on maps from +Mike Schley filled in the missing parts and kept me at brick and mortar prices. I would have been happier to see the player maps downloadable from WotC, maybe with an access code included in the box.

There is an obvious push toward theater of the mind play and they hit that goal. I realize you said that is a cop out but if you think of it from the complete beginner viewpoint, they haven't learned a preference of battlemats over TotM so steering them toward TotM seems OK to me. It creates a much lower barrier to entry that might let people get hooked without worrying about future costs.

The lack of tutorial material around the character sheet and stingy monster list are disappointing. But I think it is a good product.

----------
Jul 21, 2014
Marty Walser (Raging Owlbear)

+Brian Barcus I agree that in general it is good. I just wish it were great! :)

----------
Jul 21, 2014
Brian Barcus

I'm always in favor of great.
Raging Owlbearhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10556804177905125874noreply@blogger.com
